It’s that day again—the one where some people go all out with grand gestures, expensive gifts, and extravagant dinner reservations, while others dismiss it as nothing more than a marketing scheme designed to push consumerism.
But here’s what I think: Having a day to recognize love—just like having a day to celebrate mothers, fathers, or any other special occasion—is a good thing. We need more of these reminders. It’s not about the money spent, the size of the gesture, or whether it’s commercialized. It’s about acknowledgment, appreciation, and presence.
At its core, this day isn’t about extravagant expenses; it’s about the small things—expressing gratitude, showing care, and taking a moment to say, “I see you. I appreciate you.” It’s a reminder, amidst our busy lives, to pause and celebrate the people and moments that make life meaningful.
Because that’s what truly living is—being present, cherishing the little things, and allowing ourselves to embrace joy, even in the simplest of ways.
